Currently Reading [4]

Around September I noticed my Goodreads currently-reading shelf was always overflowing with 5 to 10 books which was absolutely insane. There was no way I was actively reading all those books! So since then I have been making a conscious effort to keep my shelf to a managable number, and to books I am actually reading. At the moment I have two books on the go, both of which I am thoroughly enjoying, so I thought I’d give you a peep into my current reads today. Just Kids by Patti Smith I stumbled across this book in a tiny airport bookstore and picked it up based on the recommendation of the salesperson. As soon as I got to my gate I started reading it and instantly fell in LOVE with Smith’s writing style, but ultimately forgot to pick it back up when I got home from my trip. About a month ago now I decided to pick it up again and immediately regretted not continuining on before. When I finally got further into this, I started hearing about it …

Currently Reading [3]

A little while ago I had this big idea that I would do a blogpost all about my Goodreads currently reading shelf. I was getting into a bit of a slump and had started around 8-10 books so my shelf was literally overflowing so I thought it would be interesting in talking about that. However I have since cleared off that shelf and made sure I only keep books I am actively reading on that page, so that blog idea kind of went out the window. But I thought I should probably share with you what I’m reading anyway! I have (kind of) jumped on board the YA train again recently. I don’t feel like I’ve read a young-adult novel in forever but I’m currently reading two YA books so – something’s changed! Breathing Under Water by Sophie Hardcastle I read Sophie’s memoir Running Like China a few months ago (my review!) and absolutely fell in love with her writing so when I saw her new release YA in Target a couple of weeks ago I had to pick it up. …

Currently Reading. [2]

As I’ve been gone from this blog for the past couple of months I thought I should give you a quick update on what I’m reading. I’ve been in-and-out of reading slumps since February but slowly and surely I’m emerging back into the book community and I’m loving it! If I’m not posting here, I can guarantee that I am updating my Goodreads page so you can always go here to check it out! Title: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes Author: Arthur Conan Doyle Release Date: July 5th 2001 (this edition) Around the beginning of June I got an urge to read some classics. There was a girl in hospital with me who was an English Literature major and we bonded a lot over the books we were reading – and seeing her reading Penguin Classics every day really inspired me to pick this one up. I’m enjoying it a LOT so far, definitely more than I was expecting! Title: Tender is the Night Author: F. Scott Fitzgerald Release Date: January 1934 Along the same lines as …

Currently Reading [1]

This week I made the unfortunate mistake of being a lazy shit so I didn’t get around to posting a weekend reads! I schedule a lot of posts on my blog due to working overnights 4+ nights a week and usually spending the other ones out or asleep, so the posts that have to be up to date are usually hit or miss to whether or not they actually happen. Anyway, enough rambling. Because I missed posting a weekend reads on Friday afternoon, I decided I would post a currently reading today instead! Let’s go! The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (J. K. Rowling) Instead of picking up A Dance with Dragons (the fifth Game of Thrones book) when I was camping, I picked up The Silkworm! I read the first book in this series when I was camping two years ago and figured it would be an easy book to read while I was away! Unfortunately I didn’t get far into this one and I’m not currently deep into the mystery, but I’m definitely enjoying this one immensely and I love …

Weekend Reads #8

Welcome back! I have neglected ‘weekend reads’ posts on my blog in the past four or five months, mainly due to the fact that I have already told Goodreads what I’m reading so what’s the point in writing an update – right? But in all honesty, these are one of my favourite posts to write. I know I have only done 7 in the past, but I was just looking back over them and I can so vividly remember what I was doing when I was writing them. It’s a weird feeling. It also makes me get the Pokemon theme song stuck in my head (apparently I was watching a lot of Pokemon in 2015)! This weekend is actually pretty exciting for me! It’s the Australia Day long weekend here in Aus, and to celebrate my family and I are going camping until Tuesday. So with no internet connection and no power for 4 days, making sure I have a decent book is pretty important! At our family camping trip last January I managed to read …

WWW Wednesday – 10th June 2015

This is WWW Wednesday, a weekly feature revived by samannelizabeth, where you answer three questions: what are you currently reading, what did you recently finish reading, what do you think you’ll read next? So here we go! What are you currently reading?  I’m currently reading A Dance with Dragons by George R. R. Martin. I always tend to have a break between reading ASOIAF books, simply because they are so intimidating, however when I begin reading them again I realise how much I love the world and I wonder why I had a four month+ break in between. I love this series so much! Definitely one of my favourites, and so far this book is one of my favourites in the series as almost all my favourite characters happen to be featured in this! What did you recently finish reading? I highly, highly suggest that all fans of The Walking Dead television show pick up the comic series! While the shows on season break, it’s always great to get a nice dose of zombies! While I’m still not caught up in the comics …
