Classics I’d Like to Read

Most of my experience with classical literature has been in an academic setting. This is a shame, because reading a book in class creates such a different type of reading experience than if you read it alone. There’s so much added discussion and insight you gain from reading a classic in school opposed to reading a book alone. As much as I loved reading in school and knowing I was getting everything I could out of the book, I think there’s something so special about reading a classic on your own and having your own reading of it. And then being able to re-read it years later and seeing what else you can experience from it. Admittedly, even with school, I have not read a large number of classics in my life. At school we never focused on the major classics, at University I only read a couple, and I’ve read even less on my own over the years.
