Books recently added to my TBR.

I’ve been relatively good at not adding too many books to my TBR lately. While my mental TBR is thousands upon thousands long, I make sure to only add books I am interested in for the immediate future to my Goodreads page or else I get completely overwhelmed. It’s much easier to tick everything off a list and accomplish something if you keep it manageable!  Keeping that in mind, these are a few of the books I have added to my Goodreads TBR lately. Be sure to go here to check it out! Title: Save Me the Waltz Author: Zelda Fitzgerald Release Date: 1932 A friend of mine recommended this one to me while I was reading Tender is the Night recently! I’ve always been hesitant to read Zelda Fitzgerald, considering how much I love her husbands work, but I finally gave in and have added this to my TBR. I’m trying to find the perfect time to read this one! Title: Revolution Author: Russell Brand Release Date: October 14th 2014 I’ve been on a bit of a memoir kick lately! I …

Currently Reading. [2]

As I’ve been gone from this blog for the past couple of months I thought I should give you a quick update on what I’m reading. I’ve been in-and-out of reading slumps since February but slowly and surely I’m emerging back into the book community and I’m loving it! If I’m not posting here, I can guarantee that I am updating my Goodreads page so you can always go here to check it out! Title: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes Author: Arthur Conan Doyle Release Date: July 5th 2001 (this edition) Around the beginning of June I got an urge to read some classics. There was a girl in hospital with me who was an English Literature major and we bonded a lot over the books we were reading – and seeing her reading Penguin Classics every day really inspired me to pick this one up. I’m enjoying it a LOT so far, definitely more than I was expecting! Title: Tender is the Night Author: F. Scott Fitzgerald Release Date: January 1934 Along the same lines as …

Friday Finds – 5th June 2015

Friday Finds is a weekly feature hosted by Should Be Reading where you showcase the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library – whereever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased) This week I’ve chosen to include books that I have heard about before, but it was only this past week that I became extremely motivated to read them! So I’ve finally added them to my TBR shelf and my to-buy list or library wishlist! (I’ve recently started using my library again… Thank god) 1. The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer – This sounds like a really real and heart breaking book about mental illness and that’s exactly what I feel like. 2. Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – I have only heard incredible things about this one and really need to begin reading more diversely. 3. The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch – If you haven’t at least heard of this one I don’t know where …

June TBR

This is the first month in a long time that I will be setting myself a TBR. Who knows if this will continue into other months, however as I’m trying to get my TBR down to 0 at the moment I think it’s quite important that I set myself a certain amount of books to read, so when I go to buy new books I can justify it. So without further ado, here is my June TBR! Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey The Giver by Lois Lowry The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon Robin: Year One by Chuck Dixon The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater Rat Queens, Vol 1: Sass & Sorcery by Kurtis J Wiebe Y: The Last Man, Vol 1: Unmanned by Brian K Vaughan Vicious by V. E. Schwab (this was on my Autumn TBR so I’m really not happy that I haven’t read it yet!) Cress by Marissa Meyer As well as this, I will probably be writing a Winter TBR sometime in the …

Friday Finds – 29th May 2015

Friday Finds is a weekly feature hosted by Should Be Reading where you showcase the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library – whereever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased) Like I mentioned last week, I’m very tentatively adding books to my TBR this year because I truly want to read what I already own/am anticipating. So this week I am focusing on comics! I am an avid comic reader, but this week in particular I have got the urge to read a bunch of female DC characters so here’s a few that I’ve added to my TBR. I won’t lie, I have heard of a few of these before, however it’s in the past week that I’ve made the decision to actually read them – and soon! 1. The Batman Adventures: Mad Love – From what I’ve heard this is pretty much a Harley Quinn origin story and I am SO down for that. 2. Spider-Gwen Volume 1 – Alternate …

Friday Finds – 22nd May 2015

Friday Finds is a weekly feature hosted by Should Be Reading where you showcase the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library – whereever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased) As I’m participating in #0by16 and ProjectTBR this year, adding books to my TBR isn’t something I do lightheartedly! On top of the TBR books I own, I have been making a conscious effort to keep my goodreads TBR below 40 books at all time! (preferably 30, but things don’t always work out…) This week however I have had a few exceptions as I found a couple of books I really want to read! I haven’t purchased any of these yet, however most of them I plan on reading as an e-book so we’ll see how it goes! 1. Something Real by Heather Demetrios – This sounds like Cheaper by the Dozen mixed with LGBT+ themes! Sign me up! 2. Elena Vanishing by Elena Dunkle – I am always …

WWW Wednesday – 20st May 2015

I’ve decided I want to start doing WWW Wednesday (a weekly feature hosted by Should Be Reading) where you answer three questions: what are you currently reading, what did you recently finish reading, what do you think you’ll read next? So here we go! What are you currently reading? I’m currently reading A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. This is Sarah J Maas’ first book in an epic new-adult fantasy trilogy! Based roughly off Beauty and the Beast, ACOTAR is rich, unique and whole-heartedly wonderful. This is my first ever new-adult novel, and although I am still only just beginning this book I’m already overwhelmed by my love for it! This is already definitely going to be one of my new favourite books, I can feel it! What did you recently finish reading?  Most recently I finished reading The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J Maas. I had been anticipating this book for quite some time now but never got around to it. However, I’m so glad I did because I enjoyed it much more than I ever thought I would! …
