December was a busy month filled with long shifts, gift shopping and lots of food. It felt like a lifetime, but also went by far too quickly. Let’s talk about it!
Christmas films – I freakin’ love Christmas films! I think about them all year, occasionally watch one during July just to feel a little festive, but come the holiday’s I live for Christmas films. This year I didn’t fit in quite as many as I wanted but I made sure to watch Elf, Love Actually and The Polar Express.
Black Mirror – I’ve watched episodes of Black Mirror here and there over the past year, but with season 4 being released at the very end of December I spent the entire month slowly getting through the episodes I hadn’t seen. Black Mirror is a satire by Netflix that looks at modern society and the consequences of new technology. It repeatedly blows my mind.
Brooklyn Nine Nine – I’ve loved B99 for years but finally caught up on the latest season this month. I saw all over twitter the buzz around one of the main characters coming out as bisexual and quickly sat down to binge watch everything I hadn’t seen. Definitely worth it and I can’t wait for the second half of season 5.
Zoella’s Vlogmas – I’m an avid youtube watcher, but come December every year my focus is mainly drawn to Zoella’s 24 Vlogmas videos. The controversy surrounding “big” youtuber’s goes out the window for a month and I am drawn into a wintery wonderland of Zoella. Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it.
Rosianna Halse Rojas’ Vlogmas – It’s near on impossible to watch every Vlogmas that clogs up my subscription box in December, but Rosianna’s is always a go to. Rosianna posts shorter Vlogmas than a lot I see, but I always make time to watch most of her videos. She discusses topics that are often overlooked but always hit close to home for myself. Definitely worth checking out, even after Christmas time.
Harry Potter – Personally I find that Harry Potter screams December and Christmas. At the end of November I began listening to the Philosopher’s Stone audiobook, and continued on listening to the Chamber of Secrets in December. Hogwarts is one of my favourite places to read about, and whenever I find myself in a bit of a reading slump Harry Potter is my automatic go-to.
Google News – I haven’t been too into my podcasts lately, however I have found myself more drawn to the news. I pick up the newspaper occasionally, but out of convenience I’ve found myself reading my Google News app a lot more often. The older I get the more I’ve realised how important it is to know what’s going in the world and I love starting the morning off with a little flip through the current affairs.
Christmas Lunch – If you know anything about me, you know that I absolutely love The Holidays. I also love food, so our families Christmas lunch is one of my favourite parts of the year. Apart from the actual festivities, having a plate full of potatoes and dinner rolls and broccoli salad is my favourite thing we do. I look forward to it every year.
Quality Street Chocolates – One of my other favourite things about the holiday season is the chocolate boxes that come out at the supermakets. I love buying these as gifts, something to have on the coffee table while watching Christmas films but also as a treat for myself I can snack on over the holiday period.
Mac n Cheese – I worked a lot during the build up to Christmas and whenever I work a lot, my diet falls out the window pretty quickly. I have been loving mac n cheese a lot this month. It’s quick, tasty and great comfort food for when you’re feeling a bit off after a long shift.
Mask of Magnaminty – I got quite a few lush bits and bobs for my birthday, and I was very glad to get a back up of my favourite lush mask. My skin has been playing up a lot lately so I’ve simplified my entire routine and been throwing in my favourite masks when I feel myself about to break out. This one is minty and always makes my face feel fresh and ready for a face of makeup.
Clean sheets – Whenever I’m feeling stressed I find that changing my sheets more often than usual really helps me relax. I love the feeling of getting into crisp sheets and a cup of tea. Definitely one of the best parts of December.
Candles – I weened off the incense in November and December was all about the candles! I burnt through 3 yankee Christmas candles during December and got completely restocked on my candle supply during Christmas! Definitely excited to get through the new additions to my collection.
Baths – I am all about my baths this month. I have been going through my (overflowing) box of bombs and bath melts and jumping into the bath once every few nights with a drink, maybe a sneaky chocolate and an episode of Doctor Who. It’s been perfect!
All the love xo
