Favourite comic book series

This is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. You can find out more info here!

I feel like I’m a mix of an avid comic reader and someone who cannot be fucked ever reading comics. I’m really good at binge reading series and then not picking another one up for months at a time. But today I thought I’d talk about a few of my favourite series I’ve read – not in detail, because I’m crap at that, but just about how much I love them. Okay? Okay.

Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples (IMAGE)

If you’re active on the online book community at all I assume you’ve definitely heard of this series. Saga is a space opera, fantasy about two lovers from different worlds whose people are at war with one another. I have been reading this series since early 2014 and while I’m not up to date I do really enjoy this one. Definitely worth picking up.

The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman (IMAGE)

Now if you haven’t heard of this, where the fuck have you been? It’s obviously the graphic novel series the hit television show is based off. And I love it just as much as the show (if not more!) I am definitely a couple of volumes behind on this one but I’m kind of tempted to re-read it from the beginning before I continue on…

The New 52: Wonder Woman by Brian Azzarello (DC)

I started reading this one when I was in hospital in May/June and I can’t believe I hadn’t picked it up earlier. I have absolutely fallen in love with Wonder Woman (obviously) and I really want to continue reading anything and everything Diana Prince. Since this is the only Wonder Woman I have read, I can’t compare it to anything else, But I really did enjoy Brian Azzarello’s take on her.

Silk by Robbie Thompson (MARVEL)

Without doubt this is one of my favourite Marvel series. I vaguely remember doing a mini review of this earlier in the year and mentioning how I loved that Cindy Moon is a new character in the Marvel universe which is pretty rare. There’s not much to read of her yet, which is a shame, because I really do love this character. A lot.

Hawkeye by Matt Fraction (MARVEL)

This is definitely the first comic series that I ever fell in love with. Something about Matt Fraction’s run of Hawkeye really clicked with me. Not only did I enjoy reading about Clint Barton as a character, but Kate Bishop (aka also Hawkeye) is now one of my favourite characters ever (not just in comics!) Plus – the art. Oh boy the art!!! I loved it!

Do you have any comic recommendations for me? Post them down below! ❁
