I’m posting every single day in September! Go here to check out everything I’ve talked about so far!
I’m always hanging out for a new book to read, regardless of how many books I have on my TBR (it just keeps getting bigger!) So today I’m going to share five books that are coming out in the second half of 2016 that I have been excited to get my hands on!
This Modern Love by Will Darbyshire
Now, I’m writing this post in August, so it’s very probable that this book has already been released when I post this but even so it remains one of my most anticipated books of 2016. Goodreads says, ‘This Modern Love is a unique crowdsourced book of letters, stories, and photographs about the state of modern romance by YouTuber Will Darbyshire.’ Even though this is by by a Youtuber, and a lot of people will critic it for that, Will and his girlfriend Arden are two of my most watched and loved subscriptions online, so I am beyond excited for this book. Not only do I want to read what Will has collected but I really want to support him. I will definitely be picking this up.
Nicotine by Nell Zink
I cannot remember for the life of me where I found this book but I added it to my TBR on Goodreads a couple of weeks ago and remember vividly wanting to read it. When I just read back over the blurb of this one it does actually sound very interesting and I kind of wish I knew where I found it. This is a ‘funny novel of families—both the ones we’re born into and the ones we create—a story of obsession, idealism, and ownership, centered around a young woman who inherits her bohemian late father’s childhood home.’
The Wonder by Emma Donoghue
I read Room by Emma Donoghue last year, and although I was thoroughly disappointed by it (mainly due to the 5-year-old perspective) I feel like I am going to enjoy Donoghue’s writing when it’s from an adult perspective, and not a kids. Goodreads says, ‘In Emma Donoghue’s latest masterpiece, an English nurse brought to a small Irish village to observe what appears to be a miracle-a girl said to have survived without food for months-soon finds herself fighting to save the child’s life.
Heartless by Marissa Meyer
Marissa Meyer is the author of one of my favourite young-adult series The Lunar Chronicles and is making a return this year with her new YA book. Heartless is a prequel to Alice in Wonderland starring the Queen of Hearts. ‘Long before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.’ It sounds like something I’d love so I’m pretty excited to pick this up when it’s released!
