The TBR Tag!

Morning! I’ll admit, I’m feeling rather uninspired today. Despite my ever growing list of topics I’d love to discuss on this blog, my brain is a tangle of thoughts and finding the time to sit down and separate them is near on impossible with my work schedule. So today I thought I would do a first for this blog: a tag!

I haven’t been tagged by anyone, but one of the few tags I actually track on wordpress is ‘TBR Tag’. Don’t ask my why – I just really enjoy reading what people have to say about their TBR piles! So I really wanted to share my own answers for this one!

This tag was created by Rachel at A Perfection Called Books. Check out her blog!

1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I mostly use Goodreads to keep track of my books! I have multiple shelves of TBR books, including books I’m interested in reading (whether I own or not) and my comic TBR. Recently I deleted my physical TBR shelf from Goodreads as it was intimidating me (don’t ask) so I’m currently keeping track of that by having all my owned to-read books on a single shelf!

2. Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?

Had I been asked this a few months ago, my answer would have been exclusively print. But in the past few months something (probably convenience) has been drawing me closer and closer towards ebooks. Almost all the books I have bought semi-recently have been in ebook format – plus I read a lot of my comic series in digital form so that ups the number a bit as well!

3. How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

I am the definition of a mood reader. I will only be able to concentrate on a book if I am 100% in the mood to read it. So if I’m in the mood for a fantasy, I will pick a fantasy. However in order to make sure I am getting through my TBR, I will often make sure I pick up books that are the genre I am interested in but I have owned the longest that I read first.

4. What’s a book that’s been on your TBR list the longest?

I’ve recently culled back my TBR list a lot, however currently I reckon a book that’s been on my TBR pile the longest is Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I bought this book on recommendation from a friend back in December 2013 and never picked it up. I was then supposed to read it before the movie came out but I never did that either. Hopefully I get to it soon!

5. What’s a book you recently added to your TBR pile?

I just checked my Goodreads shelf for this question, and I most recently added On the Other Side by Carrie Hope Fletcher!

6. What’s a book on your TBR that’s there strictly because of it’s beautiful cover?

I recently saw the book We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson floating around on Goodreads and was immediately drawn to the beautiful cover and immediately picked up the ebook version, which literally makes no sense since my kindle is so old that I can’t even see the cover. Now that I’ve bought it and it’s been added to my TBR I have read up on the plot and I am interested in the book, but at first this was definitely only on my TBR due to its gorgeous cover.

7. What’s a book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?

I donate and sell old, unwanted books regularly so I don’t actually own any books that I am not interested in reading!

8. What’s an unpublished book on your TBR that you are excited for?

The Fever Code by James Dashner! This is a prequel to The Maze Runner trilogy which just so happens to be one of my favourite YA series of all time! Definitely excited for this books release in September (on my birthday! woo!)

9. What’s a book on your TBR that basically everyone’s read but you?

I feel like everyone has read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo which is right up the top of my to-read list! But recently I also feel like everyone has been reading Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and I need to read that one ASAP!

10. What’s a book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

People both in real life and online have been hassling me to read the first Mistborn novel The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson for over a year now. I definitely, definitely need to get on that one soon!

11. What’s a book on your TBR that you’re dying to read?

I recently picked up a copy of Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin after hearing nothing but praise about and I am completely ready to devour that one!

12. How many books are on your TBR shelf?

I have really been working on this one recently hence the low-ish numbers! I physically own 30 unread books, I have 20 unread kindle books, and my to-read shelf on Goodreads is on 30 (a lot of these overlap). I don’t know how many comics I have to read, so let’s not even go there…

So there we have it! I really enjoyed answering some questions so I will probably continue to answer some tags in the future!

I don’t know who has/hasn’t done this, so I’m just going to tag the one person: Connie @ Seasonsofwords!

How many books are on your TBR pile? What book do you really want to read next? Let me know down below! X

  1. Ahhh thank you so much for tagging me! I did this instantly over on my blog πŸ˜€ I hear so much about the Mistborn series, but I struggle so much with high fantasy that I just can’t read too many of them and just can’t bring myself to be interested in the series because I know I’ll have such a difficult time reading it!

    • You’re welcome!! I love high fantasy but I’m weird and I can only have one ongoing high-fantasy series at a time! So until I finally finish A Dance with Dragons I am not letting myself start any other ones… oops!
