Anticipated Movies 2016!

If you couldn’t tell, I decided to make this week “things I’m anticipating” week on my blog! On Monday I discussed books I’m anticipating and today is all about movies!

Anyway, I freakin’ love movies. I love sitting down and emerging myself in a world via reading, don’t get me wrong, but there is something so special about watching a movie that I can’t help but love that just as much! I watch a lot of movies (*promo* follow me on letterboxd) and anticipate even more, so I thought it would be interesting to take a look at what I am anticipating at the cinemas this upcoming year! Heads up: this is a tad long. I had to cut it back a lot!

Deadpool (February 12th)

I absolutely love Deadpool comics and I have been anticipating this movie since it was announced as an idea in the works. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this movie for years. Deadpool is definitely my favourite anti-hero and definitely a character that marvel has been needing to highlight in a film. All I can say is I’m so happy I’m already 19 because otherwise I would have been sneaking into a cinema and on edge the entire time! Definitely looking forward to seeing how Ryan Reynolds plays this part in February!

Captain America: Civil War (May 6th)

Firstly: Team Steve!!!! Secondly: Holy mother of Jesus I am excited for this movie! Anyone that knows me knows I’m a sucker for anything Captain America. MCU or comics, I don’t care. Give me everything Captain America. I squealed when I saw this trailer for the first time in cinema, and you don’t want to know how I reacted when I saw it for the first time at home. What makes this movie even more exciting in my book is my favourite MCU character Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier having a leading role! Ahh! I don’t have enough good things to say about how excited I am for this movie – heck, I’m already putting money aside to assure I can see it more than once (or you know, 5+ times)!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 24th)

I am really, desperately hoping that this new DCCU movie is the beginning of what is an incredible successful film franchise. DC always seems to draw the short straw when it comes to the cinematic universe (with Marvel always seeming one step ahead) however this movie looks nothing but promising. Also, with the added addition of Wonderwoman (!!!) I’m really hoping this movie ticks all the boxes for me and it’s a smash hit!

Suicide Squad (August 5th)

Ever since the cast list of this movie was posted this has been one of my most anticipated films of the year. If the absolutely stella cast isn’t enough to get you hooked, behind the scene and leaked trailers have all looked so incredible that I can’t help be counting down the months until August. To make it better, Aussie-born Margot Robbie (who admittedly I have been crushing on since ’08 when she was starring on soap-opera Neighbours) looks absolutely KILLER as Harley Quinn! I’m so excited for this film!

Okay, enough with the superhero films…

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (November 18th)

I, just like many other book lovers, am a complete and utter Harry Potter nerd. And when it was announced that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was becoming a film series I couldn’t help but be over the moon! And the trailers and press photos have done nothing but boost that excitement! With Eddie Redmayne cast as Newt Scamander, I’m so completely ready to see this movie now – it’s just a shame that I have to wait until November!

Star Trek: Beyond (July 22nd)

I had kind of forgotten about this movie being released this year up until the trailer drop a month or two ago but oh my I’m so excited about this film! I just recently rewatched the previous two reboot films for the Star Trek franchise and reengaged my love! I cannot wait for July to see how this third film goes!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (December 28th)

I don’t know a lot about this film but the cast and the fact that it’s Star Wars means I’m going to be at the front door at the cinema as soon as it’s released watching it.

Finding Dory (June 17th)

This film may just be my most anticipated out of the entire list. I remember years ago being on a “List of Every Disney Film Ever” page that included the upcoming movies as well and there was a rumour about Finding Dory. I remember being so excited and telling all my friends about it and everyone laughing it off as a joke. Admittedly, it was probably 2010 or 2011 at the time and it was most definitely just a rumour. But as the years passed and this became an actual thing you can’t understand how excited I became. I will probably be the first through the door at my cinema when I go to see this. Move out of the way six-year olds, Amy’s seeing Finding Dory.

Moana (November 23rd)

I have been trying to avoid too much press about this one because I love going into Princess movies with little to no knowledge about what’s going to happen (slightly difficult when so many classics are based off fairytales) however from what I’ve seen this is one of the most culturally diverse Disney films that we have seen in years and I’m super excited.

Me Before You (March 4th)

Last, but certainly not least, is Me Before You. Based off the best-selling novel by Jojo Moyes (also one of my favourite books of 2015) I couldn’t even begin to explain to you how excited I am for this film. Unlike the others in this list, this is a romance story and something I am not usually counting down the days until I can see it in cinemas. The release date for this one has been bouncing around for the past year and without even a trailer I can’t tell you if this adaption looks true to the book, but regardless I am desperate to see this film!

There are so many movies coming out that I am excited for (Tarzan, Doctor Strange, Alice Through the Looking Glass… etc) but haven’t listed here because I really had to cut this movie down! Let me know what your most anticipated film releases of 2016 are down below! X
