Most years I have a list of books that I know are coming out during the year stored somewhere instead my mind. I vaguely know that the latest Throne of Glass book comes out in September time and that I should probably not expect the next George R R Martin book for a few years. But I have never written down an actual list of books I am really anticipating, so I thought that 2016 would be the year I’d give it a go! I’m not up to date on many series currently, so I’m not going to have a lot of books on this list that I am planning on reading but I’m not anticipating per-se. Let’s go!
The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater
To say that I am anxiously awaiting the release date of this book is an understatement. Perhaps my favourite Young-Adult series of all time, The Raven Cycle is set to come to a close on April 26th with the fourth instalment The Raven King. I am practically bouncing off the walls with excitement over this one, and you can bet yourself that I am going to devour this book as soon as I get my hands on it.
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas
This is the second book to Sarah J Maas’ new trilogy A Court of Thorns and Roses that was released last May. While I didn’t love this book quite as much as Throne of Glass it was definitely up there for one of my favourite Fantasy books I’ve read in while and I’m pretty excited for the second book in this trilogy, due out on the 3rd of May!
The Fever Code by James Dashner
In the online book community, The Maze Runner series doesn’t appear to be a very popular book. But I love it. My cousins and I love it. A few of my close in real life friends love it. And after the disappointment of The Kill Order (which was the original prequel to the trilogy) I have been anticipating The Fever Code since it was announced in 2014! And 2016 is finally the year I can get my hands on it! I’m so desperate to find out more about the boys’ past and I’m really hoping that this book is going to give me just that on September 27th!
This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab
I’ll admit, I know very little about this book but Victoria herself has described it as “Sin City + Romeo and Juliet – romance + monsters” and if said that didn’t spike my interest immediately I’d be lying. In general I am not a huge urban fantasy or paranormal fan, but I’m so desperately hoping that V E Schwab is the one to change my mind!
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
I got super into The Mortal Instrument series and Infernal Devices back in 2013, and now that there is another series being released you know I’m going to pick it up. While my excitement hasn’t been over the top, I know that I will picking it up as soon as I can and hopefully getting around to it before long! This first in a series (trilogy?) is due out March 8th!
Stars Above by Marissa Meyer
I admit that as I am writing this I haven’t even begun reading the fourth book in The Lunar Chronicles, Winter, but regardless of that I fully admit that the series is one of my favourites of all time. I don’t usually buy bind-ups or novellas, but I am so excited to read this that I will happily fork out the $25 upon it’s release on February 2nd.
6. Throne of Glass Book #5 by Sarah J Maas. While Queen of Shadows was slightly disappointing when it was released last September, that does in no way mean that I’m not excited for the next book to be released in what I assume will be September as well! I will definitely be picking up a copy and devouring it within days.
